#claudewheel.install

#claudewheel.install

Download, verify, and install Claude Code binaries from Google Cloud Storage.

#_detect_platform

python
def _detect_platform() -> str

Detect the current platform string matching GCS manifest keys.

#fetch_manifest

python
def fetch_manifest(version: str) -> dict[str, Any]

Fetch the version manifest from GCS. Returns the parsed JSON dict.

#_staging_path

python
def _staging_path(dest: Path) -> Path

The temp path a download stages into before it is renamed onto dest.

Built by APPENDING to the full name rather than by with_suffix: a semver version is nothing but suffixes, so Path("2.1.220").with_suffix( ".downloading") yields 2.1.downloading and every patch release of the same minor stages into one shared file.

#install_version

python
def install_version(locator: 'BinaryLocator', version: str, progress_callback: Callable[[int, int], None] | None=None) -> Path

Download and install a Claude Code version binary.

Args:

  • locator: The :class:BinaryLocator supplying the versions directory.
  • version: The version string (e.g. "2.1.120")
  • progress_callback: Optional callable(bytes_downloaded, total_bytes)

Returns:

  • Path to the installed binary.

Raises:

  • OSError on any failure (network, checksum, disk).
